GENERAL SAFETY INDUCTION Congratulations on obtaining employment with Star line Consultancy Pty Ltd. This is an Induction Manual for all employees. It is a mandatory requirement of your employment with Star Line Consultancy Pty Ltd that you read this Induction Manual and answer the accompanying questionnaire to signify your understanding of its contents and your agreement to adhere to Policies, Procedures and Rules. Guidelines strictly to be followed at workplace Punctuality
  • Be on time. If you are running late to work or unable to attend work for any reason including illness, you MUST report to the office of STAR LINE CONSULTANCY (minimum 2 hrs. prior to shift commencement). Your start and finish times including lunch breaks are listed in your Assignment Notification.
Dress Code
  • A neat, clean and tidy appearance is essential at all times for work of any kind. You will be notified with proper dress codes by your STAR LINE CONSULTANCY consultant. Employees expected to be adhere professional image.
Personal behaviour
  • Always remember you represent STAR LINE CONSULTANCY and all the staff in any dealings with our clients / host employer. Never use foul or offensive language. Your approach and attitude are also measures of your work performance. You are to act at all times with honesty, integrity, dependability and freedom from corruption. It is important that all actions and decisions are completely lawful as well as moral.
 Use of personal devices
  • Limit personal calls whilst on assignment. Mobile telephones should be switched off or turned to silent during working hours. In the case of an emergency or important family matter, it is important to ask permission prior to making any personal calls.
Lunch breaks
  • Employees are entitled to a minimum of half an hour for their lunch break, however at times host employees will indicate that an hour for lunch is expected. As a temporary employee, you are responsible for speaking to your supervisor as to what time it is best to have your break and confirm the duration. This break must be taken after a five-hour period. Employees will not be paid for untaken breaks. 
Property & Equipment
  • It is your responsibility to ensure that property issued to you such as uniforms, keys, tools, etc. are maintained in the condition in which they were issued. When you are leaving the employment of STAR LINE CONSULTANCY, you will be required to return all such property in good condition before your final pay is issued. The cost of items not retuned will be deducted from your final payment. Loss of any property should be reported immediately to your supervisor.
Confidentiality
  • All information relating to the operation of the host employer must be treated as confidential. Under no circumstances it is acceptable for a temporary employee to discuss your activities, information, company details or activities with another party outside the workplace. Such discussions will be considered breach of your contract with instant dismissal a result of such actions. Your access codes and passwords are your property and should never be supplied to another staff member. This policy also applies to keys and security system codes issued to you.
Clarify policy
  • Make sure you are familiar with workplace policies. If you are unsure of the code of conduct, ask your manager or your STAR LINE CONSULTANCY consultant.
Contact
  • Please provide us with your direct line whilst on assignment (if supplied with one) so we can contact you easily. If your personal details change at all (ie, change of address, phone, email, etc.) please let us know immediately so we may update our systems.
Car Parking & Road Safety
  • If car parking is available on site, you must obey all signs posted and park in marked bays only. DO NOT park in Visitor Please observe the sign always posted speed limit in the car park.
Security & Restricted Areas
  • Star Line Consultancy reserve the right to conduct random bag searches at all client sites. Please ensure that you remain in the area to which you are assigned at all times.
Time Sheets
  • It is important that you are honest with your timekeeping.
  • You must sign on at your START time NOT the time you arrive at work.
  • You must not sign on or for someone else as this will result in immediate removal from site. To ensure you are paid correctly please sign on and off correctly each day. Completed timesheets must have the supervisor’s signature on it.
  • Please Note: It is your responsibility to make sure you have put through the correct spelling of your name and correct number of hours. Any discrepancies will result in delays of your payments.
Change of Role Notification
  • If you are asked to change job roles, functions, locations, or you are required to operate new machinery, you MUST inform Star line consultancy BEFORE you do so. We need to ensure that the new role/location has been inspected and is safe. Star Line Consultancy will need to conduct a risk assessment, safe work method and training for all new job roles, functions, machinery and locations.
Toilets
  • Male and Female toilets are provided at each site. Please ensure that these facilities are only used during your breaks and that they are kept clean and tidy. There is NO smoking permitted in the toilets. 
Smoking Areas  
  • If you wish to smoke, you MUST go outside to the designated smoking area.
  • If you are caught smoking outside of the designated area, your employment may be terminated.
  • Smoking is permitted in your breaks only. Please place all cigarette butts in the bin. 
Housekeeping
  • Good housekeeping is fundamental to safety, and it is the responsibility of all staff to maintain a high standard in their work area. Keep floors, passageways, aisles and stairways clear of all obstructions. Dispose of rubbish and scraps in proper containers. Work areas must be always kept clean and orderly. Your shift is not finished until you have cleaned up your work area.
Manual Handling
  • Injuries from manual handling can include muscle strains and sprains, back soreness and arm and shoulder injuries. Ask your supervisor/manager to show you correct lifting techniques and report any manual handling hazards to them for investigation. Manual Handling is a broad term to explain any action which requires pushing, pulling, lifting, or carrying of objects by people.
The best way to avoid manual handling injuries is to follow these procedures. Safety First
  • You may be required to use mechanical aids for transporting items.
  • Careless or dangerous use of equipment may result in termination of your employment.
  • Under NO circumstances are you to operate any equipment without the appropriate qualifications or without your supervisor’s permission.
  • Always use the Pedestrian walkways and follow traffic management plans where applicable
  • If you have any concerns speak to your supervisor or contact our team.
  • Observe posted safety signs at all times. They are there for your safety
Falling Stock
  • Under no circumstances are you to try and prevent unsteady stock from falling. If a large item looks like it may fall, vacate the area immediately and report the incident to your supervisor.
WHS Incident and Hazard Reporting
  • To keep the workplace as safe as possible, you MUST report all incidents, hazards, or potential hazards on site straight to your supervisor. Please also notify us or our team immediately. Examples of hazards / potential hazards can include broken/damaged machinery in use, unsafe work practices, trip hazards, horseplay, or any behavior that you consider unsafe for the environment. By reporting these potential hazards, you just may prevent an accident/injury to yourself or your workmates.
Reporting an Incident / Injury
  • First Aid is provided on all client sites.
  • A trained First Aider is always available to provide emergency first aid treatment.
  • If the injury is more serious the First Aider will contact an Ambulance.
  • If you sustain an injury during your shift, report the incident immediately to your supervisor and then to us, no matter how minor you think the injury is.
  • You will need to complete an Incident / injury report form either in person or email.
Emergency Evacuation
  • When the evacuation tone is heard:
  • STOP what you are doing and proceed to the nearest EXIT.
  • WALK do not run, ASSIST mobility impaired persons.
  • GO TO your assembly area (see site evacuation map) FOLLOW wardens’ instructions.
Site Safety Rules
  • The following is a list of safety rules that applied to all client sites. You are required as a condition of employment to know, understand and abide by all safety rules.
  • Horseplay, practical jokes and rowdiness will not be tolerated at work as these often lead to personal injury.
  • Consuming alcohol or taking illegal or excessive legal drugs during work hours or commencing work under the influence of alcohol or drugs is not permitted.
  • Observe the warning and safety signs that are displayed at the site. They are placed there for your protection.
  • If you leave your workplace for any reason, notify your Supervisor and Star Line Consultancy of your intentions
  • Any employee who disregards company safety procedures and endangers either their own safety or the safety of others may have their employment terminated by Star Line
  • Any injuries no matter how minor must be reported to your supervisor then to Star Line Give accurate details of how your accident or injury occurred so that corrective action may be taken.
  • If you are injured trained first aid attendants are available to provide you with appropriate first aid and they will record the incident.
  • Protective Clothing & Equipment, where required must be worn at all times.
  • Smoking is prohibited in all buildings on site. Smoking is only permitted in designated smoking area.
  • Running is prohibited throughout the site.
  • Emergency procedures have been developed. Make sure you know what is expected of you in the event of emergency.
  • Read operating instructions for all equipment.
  • Store equipment and tools in their correct storage area.
  • Always keep your immediate work area clean and tidy.
  • Always follow the correct work/job procedures.
  • Use handrails where provided.
  • Ask for assistance if the load is too heavy or awkward.
  • As you are in contact with clients’ property, you must treat all property with respect. You must use all property in the correct manner for which it was intended. You must report to your supervisor or Star Line Consultancy any property that is not suitable for use or damaged.
DO NOT
  • Operate machinery or equipment unless you have been trained and hold the correct license to use it.
  • Carry any load that obstructs your vision.
  • Obstruct any emergency equipment or exit.
  • Store machinery or equipment around or in the pedestrian walkway.
  • Remove any signs from equipment (e.g., danger tags).
  • Use equipment that is damaged.
  • Use makeshift tools. Throw equipment, tools, products etc. Climb on machinery.
  • Walk under hoisted pallets or other loads.
  • Tamper with or attempt to repair or adjust any machine unless you have been trained and instructed to do so.
